Milling (manual)

During milling, a cutting tool is turned against a stationary workpiece. The cutting tool is driven by a motor. The movements of the workpiece and tool are controlled mechanically. If these movements, the cutting speed and various other parameters are under the direct control of an operator, it is a manual milling operation. The operator is usually provided with handwheels or various keys. In manual milling, different tools can be used which must be placed manually on the tool holder. Manual milling has been replaced by NC and CNC milling machines in most industries. However, it is still used in small workshops and old industries.
