Deep hole drilling

Deep hole drilling is a generic term for various methods of drilling deep holes. A deep hole is defined as a hole with a length to diameter ratio of more than 3. Deep hole drilling methods differ significantly from the usual short hole drilling methods. The greater depth of the deep holes makes it impossible for other drilling tools to remove the chips and cool the drill. Deep hole drills are therefore equipped with channels for coolant and lubricant transport, through which the chips are also discharged.
